“As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.” Genesis 17:4-5, KJV

A father of many nations. Though Abram walked with God, he did not become the father of many until God changed his name. God changed his name when he established covenant with him. God instructed Abram to walk faithful and blameless before Him. In a covenant relationship, God changed his name and multiplied his life. Abraham’s seed could not be multiplied in the flesh, hence he could not be the father of many nations. With God’s name he produced the seed of promise. With flesh in control Abram created Ishmael. Oftentimes, we get anxious before God and create works of flesh. God may bless but He will not multiply your works. In patience and trust in God, we give birth to the promise. It’s time we, as believers trust the timing of God. In our spirit, possess our souls. Abraham, walking in spirit and truth fulfilled the promise of God. Abram though serving God, was not walking in covenant relationship with God. We must wait on the Lord, be not anxious and allow God to deliver the promise! God is ready to multiply our seed and cause our lives to be Fruitful!
